When scheduling your travel plans, you will need to arrive at least one full day prior to your surgery.
The precise amount of time you will be required to stay in town will be dependent on your specific procedure performed and how far you are traveling, but on average our patients stay for 3-7 days after smaller procedures and 10-14 days for more extensive surgeries.
We recommend packing lightly as your trip home must not be physically strenuous.
It is required that every patient have a responsible adult pick them up from surgery and stay with them overnight for at least 24 hours after surgery. Public transportation such as a taxi or Uber is not allowed after undergoing surgeries that require sedation or general anesthesia. If you are traveling alone, we can help arrange for a nurse or caretaker to help with this. For more extensive surgeries, a licensed nurse or medical professional may be required to stay with you overnight for the first evening following surgery. More information on overnight nursing care and hotel accommodations can be found on our Aftercare Accommodations page.
